Exeter University is hosting a huge competition to find the region's best and most innovative student scientists, engineers and IT wizards today.
School and college pupils aged 11 to 18 have spent months working on their inventions - which include the production of a biofuel using school canteen waste and a surf wax which detects sewage in sea water.
Their projects will be judged by representatives of local businesses and the best will go on to the next stage of the contest.
