Homes not yet evacuated
Police and a Royal Navy bomb disposal team are investigating a suspicious vehicle in Cranbrook.
Eyewitnesses say a "military device" is alongside a car which has its bonnet open in Great Meadow.
A cordon is in place, which was extended around 8.30am on Christmas Eve.
Inside the cordon, a robot, which looks like a T4 bomb disposal robot (pictured below), could be close to the vehicle.
Speaking to a Radio Exe reporter, police said no homes had been evacuated but the possibility isn’t being ruled out.
Since then, officers have been seen knocking on doors, but it’s unclear whether this was to evacuate residents.
Police have been very firm with a Radio Exe reporter and don't want anyone looking at what the Royal Navy bomb disposal team are doing.
The Royal Navy says they were called to assist Devon and Cornwall Police and will stay as long as they are needed.
