Driver from Hayle arrested
A boy has died after being hit by a van in Redruth, Cornwall.
Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a white Iveco van and a 12-year-old male pedestrian on the A3047 Agar Road junction with Wilson Way, Pool, Redruth at around 3.35 p.m. on Monday.
The child died of his injuries at the scene and his family are now being supported by specialist family liaison officers.
A 67-year-old man from Hayle has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and on suspicion of driving whilst unfit.
The road was closed for more than 10 hours for investigations to take place.
