Teenager trapped on top of lift
A 14-year-old boy's been rescued from a lift shaft in a public building in Bideford on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 2.40 p.m. to Kingsley Road where the boy was found on top of the lift, not inside it. He wasn't injured or distressed, but presumably a bit embarrassed. Fire crews cut off the electricity supply before starting to lower the lift.
Working with a lift engineer, and with a specialist working at height with rescue rope equipment, just over two hours later the youngster was released unharmed.
