Quarantine was "final nail in coffin"
Brittany Ferries is taking one of the vessels that plies the Devon to Roscoff route out of service because of quarantine rules.
People coming to the UK from France now have to isolate for two weeks. That's affected Brittany Ferries' business. So the company is changing the way it operates, although it says job losses won't result.
Brittany Ferries says 35,000 passengers either cancelled or delayed their travel plans when the government announced the quarantine rules. Now more than 50,000 passengers who already have bookings will be impacted by the decision to take a ferry out of service.
Nigel Wanncott from the company says: "We're doing everything we possibly can to make sure we're robust for the future. We have a five-year-recovery plan The imposition of quarantine on passengers returning from France really put the final nail in the coffin at the end of an absolutely dreadful summer season for us. Now looking forward to the autumn we've had to take some extraordinary decisions to cut several routes."
