VIDEO: Rocks and smoke bombs were thrown
French fishermen have clashed with a number of British boats - including some from Brixham - after a "scallop war" erupted in the English Channel.
Rocks, smoke bombs and other projectiles are reported to have been hurled at English and Scottish vessels during the confrontation early yesterday morning (Tuesday 28th August).
The French crews were apparently protesting over fishing rights. But it's legal for English boats to fish there.
