Staff at a stately home near Exeter have dismissed claims that they staged a burlesque show to help 'sex up' the image of the National Trust and attract a different type of visitor.
The event at Killerton hit national headlines, particularly after some reports said the Trust was trying to combat a fall in visitor numbers to its properties across the country.
But Felicity Bowcher from Killerton, who took part in the burlesque performance herself, says it was a nostalgic showcase for the collection of historic fashion items held at the house - and had nothing to do with visitor numbers
