Chancellor commends success of Exeter Mathematics School

Phillip Hammond praised the collaboration between Exeter University and Exeter College during his Budget statement

In his speech, the Chancellor commended the success of Exeter Mathematics School on Queen Street - a collaboration between Exeter University and Exeter College that takes high-performing teenagers from across the south west. He says he’s going to set up similar schools elsewhere in the country

 

During the Chancellors budget statement, he also announced £300 million will be invested in science, technology and maths.

 

Professor Tim Quine, Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Exeter, said:

 

“The University of Exeter is delighted by the £300million investment in PhDs and fellowships in science, technology, maths, and engineering subjects announced in the budget. The University is a leader in the region in these subjects and is committed to raising attainment and aspirations of young people in the South West. Research students and post-doctoral fellows play a key role in turning the latest research into next generation industry and innovation, helping to create new highly-skilled employment in the region”
