A spate of chimney fires in east Devon has prompted the fire service to issue a safety warning.
They included incidents in Broadhembury and Axminster.
As the weather turned colder, it's thought many people lit open fires or woodburning stoves in their homes, without having their chimneys swept first.
The Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service says it's important to get chimneys cleared of the deposits of soot and tar that can catch fire.... they advise having the chimney swept every three months if burning wood throughout the year, but just once a year for burning coal or smokeless fuel.
