A festive outdoor market and traditional decorations in Fore Street are planned this year. .
This week the city council gave planning permission for the traditional market to open this year and return for the next four years.
It will feature wooden chalet-style stalls selling seasonal arts and crafts, food and drink - with many of the stalls being occupied by local traders.
Meanwhile shopkeepers in Fore Street are raising money for their own Christmas decorations, as they don't get funding for them from the city council.
They're promising an array of illuminated Christmas trees above their shops, along with creative seasonal window displays.
