Some parking charges look set to rise steeply in Exeter next year.
Next week the city council will be looking at proposals to create four tariff bands, which will mean some charges going up and others decreasing.
The increases are proposed for short-stay shoppers' car parks including Princesshay, King William Street and Howell Road... but not for Guildhall, John Lewis or Mary Arches Street.
The council says parking income is an important source of revenue.. but it's trying to balance that with the current economic problems and the pressures on consumers and businesses.
