The days of Exeter city council dignitaries wearing ceremonial robes trimmed with real fur are numbered.
Two robes which are 80 years old will soon need to be replaced, and the new ones will use fake fur instead.
The decision's been made by the current Lord Mayor - whose own robe does not have any type of fur on it - and the council's corporate manager.
It's been welcomed by the animal rights group PETA.
