Forty-five homeless people in Exeter have moved into accommodation after initially being given emergency night shelter during the winter.
Under the Safe Sleep initiative, charities helping homeless people joined forces with councils and the police to provide 26 bed spaces in various locations in Exeter during the winter months.
The aim was not only to offer an alternative to rough sleeping but also to help those using the service into more settled accommodation
During the three month period 82 people were given beds for the night and 45 of them are now off the streets.
There are also going to be eight bed spaces in dormitory-style rooms at the BCHA hostel, to offer quick-access accommodation as a stepping stone to more permanent housing.
