Two generators destroyed in Bickington blaze
A fire at a Devon campsite on the edge of Dartmoor in the early hours of Sunday morning is being investigated.
A member of the public spotted the blaze in an office building of a campsite at Bickington, on the edge of Dartmoor, south west of Trago Mills at Newton Abbot.
Fire crews from Ashburton, Newton Abbott, Buckfastleigh and Torquay were mobilised at about 12.30 a.m. The incident commander confirmed the fire involved the outer cladding of a building, with a cylinder also involved. The crews, using breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet, a covering jet and a thermal imaging camera to put the fire out and cool the cylinder.
The fire destroyed two generators and affected some of the cladding of the building. The cause of the fire isn't yet known.
