A company has been fined following the death of a worker who became trapped in machinery at a Devon paper Mill.
42 year old John Stoddart was killed when he was pulled in to machinery at Higher Kings Mill in Collumpton in September 2011.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive led to the company being prosecuted for his death.
It was found that the company failed to place any guard around the mahine's belt and did not have a suitable risk assessment.
Mr Stoddart's employer, DS Smith Paper Ltd of London, were fined £400,000 after pleading guilty.
They were also ordered to pay over £34,000 in costs following the case at Exeter Crown Court yesterday.
