Concerns over new school traffic

Concerns are being raised about proposals to set up a school in temporary buildings in an area of Exeter, while a permanent site is sought.

The applicants want to use the vacant site of the old Foxhayes Primary in Exwick to start a new state-funded Steiner school, and hope to move into permanent buildings within three years.

Many local residents are worried about the extra school run traffic - even though the applicants say they'll have different opening hours from the nearby Exwick Heights school to avoid too much congestion.

And the application is being recommended for approval by the planning committee this evening.
