Consultation begins on Exeter streetlights switch-off plan

A six-week consultation's been launched on the controversial plan to turn off many of Exeter's streetlights after 12.30am.

Exhibitions are on show in several venues around the city, and a series of public meetings is being held in October.

There's also a dedicated website on the issue, where people can submit their views.

The change will see busy city centre areas, main roads and a network of walking-home routes remaining lit all night, but other streets will have remote-controlled lighting which can be turned off in the early hours, but switched back on if necessary.
