East Devon council is defending its decision to board up a cafe on Exmouth seafront this morning.
DJ's Diner, in the Queen's Drive redevelopment zone, had its locks changed and boarding put up to prevent entry, early this morning.
The move has led to furious comments and criticism on the Exmouth Splash facebook page.
But the council says it took possession of the cafe, because the owner hadn't made a formal application to continue trading after September 30th.
The local authority says it was also owed a large sum of money by the tenant.
