Food waste collections could be introduced in Exeter within the next couple of years... to reduce the amount going to landfill.
City councillors will hear later that Exeter is doing less well than other local authorities in Devon when it comes to meeting recycling targets.. and the amount of landfill waste collected per head of population has risen.
Food waste represents 35 per cent, by weight, of the material sent to landfill - but that's been reduced by other councils who do operate collections.
The council has confirmed that it's considering following their example.... but is also looking at ways to increase recycling, and reduce the amount of waste being produced in the first place.
