Devon county council is being urged to delay the planned closure of Exmouth's dementia care home, to give the town and district authorities a chance to explore the alternatives.
The Town Council believe the decision to close Davey Court is based on flawed information and have asked for no action to be taken in that direction for at least a year.
They also want a similar stay of execution on proposed cuts to youth services.
Exmouth town council say the announcement on the proposed closures was made at at time when they, and the district council, had already set their budget for the coming year, and that a deferment would give them time to find ways to keep their care home and youth centre open.
