Exeter city council is being urged to recognise the quality and importance of locally-produced food and drink, in its strategy for development over the next 10 years.
The council is currently consulting local residents and businesses on a
draft strategy, whose key aims include strengthening the economy and
making the city attractive to investors and visitors alike.
Local producers are collecting signatures on a petition, asking the council to involve them more in the plans and make sure the proposals support and promote their trade.
They believe the high quality food and drink trade is a special feature of Exeter which should be promoted and supported more in the city centre
