Crime hotspots made safer

Villages and towns could become safer and catch more criminals thanks to a new CCTV funding package.

Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner has launched the initiative, making £125,000 available to communities most in need.

Building on previous government investments, the scheme aims to reduce crime, provide evidence for convictions, and make communities safer to work and live in.

Councils and organisations can apply for a share of the funding to install or upgrade CCTV systems.

Interested parties must express their interest through the Police Commissioner's website by Friday 24 October.

Applicants need to provide details about their current camera setup, planned installations or upgrades, a timeline for using the funding, the location of the CCTV, and who will benefit.

A panel will then decide who receives the funding. Councils, voluntary groups, and eligible companies can apply for up to £10,000.
