Cranbrook chosen to pilot 'designed for health' initiatives

The town of Cranbrook is to be one of just 10 in the country, chosen to test out ways of getting people to live healthier lives.

It's part of a national initiative to try and design out the features of people's living environments which encourage laziness and bad habits - and design in incentives for taking exercise and spending time out of doors.

That could include adventure playgrounds for children, walking and cycling routes, and not allowing fast food outlets to set up shop near schools.

There could also be more support in the community for people with dementia and those who could otherwise suffer from isolation.
