Plymouth man arrested
A cyclist is seriously injured in hospital following a hit and run in the middle of the night in Plymouth.
The collision on Embankment Road took place around 3.40am on Tuesday.
Police closed the road for around 10 hours whilst they investigated.
A red Vauxhall Corsa hit a pedal cyclist on the inside lane of the outbound carriageway.
The cyclist, a man in his forties from Plymouth, was taken to Derriford where his injuries, whilst serious, are not thought to be life threatening.
The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop. Later a local man in his thirties was arrested on suspicion causing serious injury by careless driving, driving a vehicle when alcohol level above the limit and of failing to stop after a road accident. He remains in police custody at this time.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information or dashcam footage. to call them on 101, quoting log number 77 of 28/1/25.
