Chagford ranks alongside New York and Paris
A Dartmoor bakery has been named one of the top food stores in the world by an international newspaper.
The Financial Times has listed Beachwood Bakery at Chagford among giants of the culinary world in New York and Paris. And they've only been open a year.
Owner Julia Cotts swapped California home to bring her young family to Devon and began her business as a market-stallholder at Chagford’s flea-market. Now she's in premises in the village square.
She says: “To be named by the Financial Times as one of the best food stores on the planet is beyond my wildest dreams. Of course I’m thrilled, excited and amazed. But I’m also mostly grateful to the many local customers who stuck by me during the pandemic and without whom I wouldn’t have been able to stay open.”
