Network Rail have insisted that the programme to improve the rail line at Dawlish is on track - following criticism from Labour MPs.
Concerns were raised by MPs including Exeter's Ben Bradshaw after the latest report on the options for safeguarding the rail link wasn't published on time.
It had been due to appear in November.
This led to concerns that the project was being delayed - and in view of the rising costs of electrifying other parts of the rail network, speculation that it could lose out on investment.
But Network Rail says the report is now with the Department for Transport, and will be seen by the local Rail Task Force in January.
