Network Rail says repairs to the track at Dawlish will take a month longer than expected, after last weekend's storms caused further damage to the sea wall.
The company had said trains could start running again in March, but have announced a new timetable for the work after assessing the state of the track.
Workmen have been doing what they can so far, building new concrete foundations in the breached sea wall and starting to repair the station.
