A Dawlish woman has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, for co-ordinating much of the support for local residents evacuated from their homes in the winter storms and tidal flooding.
Shirley Fewings manages the local volunteer bureau, and launched a major operation to help those who had to leave their homes on that night in February.
She's delighted to receive the award... but says there are plenty of others doing good in their communities who should be nominated for recognition - and that she's accepting it on behalf of the voluntary sector.
