Devon and Cornwall Police 101 improvements could be rolled out nationwide.

The non-emergency 101 call service is being overhauled after a public consultation by the Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg found widespread dissatisfaction.

He took action after a public consultation found the system was not fit for purpose.

The police have now agreed that callers were waiting far too long to get their enquiries dealt with.

The Home Secretary has thanked Mr Hogg for his work and says other forces will be urged to put his recommendations into practice.
