King Charles III Coast Path inauguration today
Devon is the only county to be included in two sections of the new King Charles III England Coast Oath.
At 2,689 miles long, the route stretches around the entire coast of the country. is being officially inaugurated later.
It creates a continuous trail on which walkers can explore England's shoreline.
Devon is in both sectors six and seven of the eight-segment route.
The county's south coast is in section six, called the South West Channel Coast, which runs from Dorset to the Lizard in Cornwall.
North Devon is part of section seven, known as the South West Atlantic Coast.
Much of the new coastal route already existed, but more than 1,000 miles of new paths have been created, and many other sections upgraded. Paths have been resurfaced, stiles removed, boardwalks built and bridges installed.
