Police are urging farmers in mid and east Devon to help them tackle a spate of thefts, often involving valuable farm machinery.
In many cases the farms targeted had previously been visited by men offering to buy scrap metal or batteries, and police think these callers may be sizing up the property for a future break-in.
Police are asking farmers to report these callers, giving their descriptions and details of any vehicles they have with them - officers can then find out where the criminals are operating and try to thwart them...
