An elderly man is fighting for his life after a flat fire in Exeter in the early hours of this morning.
The fire broke out in a three story building in Cowick street in St. Thomas at around half past three.
On arrival, two emergency crews found the first floor well alight and they needed to use breathing apparatus to locate and bring the 67 year old man out of the building . He's being treated for burns and the effects of smoke inhalation. He's believed to be in a critical condition.
The property was severely damaged and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
