A Mid Devon council's warning people to think before they click.
Tiverton Town Council's files are encrypted after their clerk opened an attachment in an email that claimed to be from a delivery firm, but was in fact a virus.
They have now been asked for £3,000 to repair the files.
The council aren't paying and are warning people to be careful about opening attachments.
