Exeter is bucking the national trend when it comes to the number of people taking up apprenticeships.
Nationally, the numbers have fallen by a third in just 12 months. But Exeter apprentices continue to increase.
Exeter City Council train their apprentices through Exeter College. June Callister who's responsible for apprentices at the council says it can be a tough selection process.
"We are very careful with our shortlisting. We only advertise and shortlist people who have promise. We have a rigorous interview scheme and we get what we need to meet that position.
We have the talent here in Exeter, there isn't a single vacancy that we haven't managed to fill with a superb candidate."
