An Exeter man being detained in Russa for taking part in a Greenpeace protest has been refused bail.
Iain Rogers from Countess Wear is among 28 activists who were demonstrating because of their fears that the Russian state-owned oil company Gazprom is risking a catastrophic spill in the Arctic.
Last month the Russian authorities forced them off their ship and put them into custody - they're facing charges of piracy. .
Mr Rogers had a bail hearing yesterday but the Regional Court of Murmansk refused - despite his guarantees that he would return to Russia for trial.
