Exeter police have launched a 'take 5 minutes' campaign to ensure that people locally keep their homes and belongings safe.
Police say it takes just five minutes for an average two-storey home to be burgled – but only five minutes for a householder to make their home secure.
The warning is part of a ‘five minute’ campaign by police urging people to take the time to check their home security, ensuring their windows and doors are locked before they leave the house.
Police community support officers will be posting crime prevention flyers in any area of the city where a burglary occurs to raise awareness of home security.
