Man arrested suspected of racial attack
Police are appealing for information after a black shop worker was spat at and subjected to a tirade of racist abuse in Exeter city centre.
Police are investigating the incident which occurred at Tesco Metro on the High Street, at around 5.15 p.m. on Tuesday 9 February.
Officers attended and a homeless Exeter man aged 45, was subsequently located on nearby Little Queen Street and arrested on suspicion of assault and racially aggravated public order offences. He has been released under investigation pending further enquires.
PC Beth Kendrick said: “At the time the shop and street were busy, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or heard any comments.”
