Exmouth RNLI are continuing a two-day test trial today, of the prototype of a brand new lifeboat that they will be receiving at the end of next year.
The new Shannon class boat, which the charity hope to receive in November 2013, will be faster and more high-tech than the older vehicle that the volunteers currently use.
The lifeboat itself has been paid for by a local legacy, but a fundraising appeal's underway to meet the costs of the launch and recovery vehicle.
