Some East Devon residents will see their grey bins collected just once every three weeks as part of a new trial starting in the autumn.
The council's announced that nearly 2 thousand residents in Exmouth and Feniton will take part in the scheme.
More items will be recycled - including cardboard and mixed plastics - to help reduce the amount of landfill waste.
The trial begins in September.
