Three housing developers have failed in their attempt to be allowed to build more than 200 new homes in Feniton.
A public inquiry was held in January after they appealed against East Devon district council's refusal of planning permission.
Local residents fought back - hiring their own legal representatives to argue the case against the developments.
The appeals have now been dismissed - in what was seen as a landmark case.
Villagers say they're 'over the moon' and are planning a celebration of the ruling.
