The alarm was raised on Bank Holiday Monday evening.
The first fire was reported on Nakers Hill in the middle of the moor.
Specialist equipment was used to try and stop the fire spreading but crews had to stop at late on Monday night because of fading light.
Relief crews were brought in on Tuesday morning.
