Exeter Royals' tribute to young star
An Exeter football club has changed its shirt colours in memory of a former player.
18-year-old Harvey McWilliams joined Exeter Royals whilst he was studying at Exeter University - sadly in 2021, he took his own life.
He was a huge Sunderland fan, so to honour him the club changed their tops to red and white which they wear when they train and warm up.
They’ve also added the number 18 with two broken hearts to their club badge. His boots are also carried to every match they play.
A website was also set up to support other players and people struggling with their mental health - www.forharvey.co.uk.
The club is also looking to sign up sponsors for the For Harvey shirts which will go towards the charity.
