It's in top 10 per cent of attack locations
Exeter is one of the worst places in the UK for graffiti, according to a new survey.
The city is in the top 10 per cent of local authorities which responded to a Freedom of Information request from a buildings renovation company.
With 1,611 incidents of this kind of damage in 2019, graffiti artists are at work every four or five hours on average in Exeter. It means the city is 19th in the UK for graffiti attacks - and it comes at a considerable cost. Every graffiti tag costs £70 to remove.
The city council told Structural Repairs, which carried out the research, that it spent £113,646 on removing graffiti last year. It's the 19th biggest spending graffiti-removal spender out of the 242 councils that responded to the FOI request.
