Grants for helping vulnerable people into work

Unemployed and vulnerable people in Exeter and East Devon are to benefit from a new set of grants being handed out to local organisations.

Earlier this year a new fund was set up by the county council and other parthership organisations, specifically to support organisations helping people into employment through social enterprises.

Among the organisations which successfully applied for money are the St Sidwells Centre in Exeter, which'll use the 37 thousand pounds to develop new money-making enterprises.

The Trill Trust in Axminster will get a similar amount for a programme giving cooking, gardening and DIY skills to 12 people in Exeter and East Devon who're recovering from substance abuse.

And Exeter Community Initiatives is receiving 10 thousand pounds to improve the workplace skills of unemployed people with caring responsibilities.
