Man had complete disregard for safety of boys he employed
The owner of a gutter clearing company's been jailed at Exeter Crown Court for the manslaughter of a teenage boy.
17-year-od Beau Jennians fell from a ladder from where he'd been cleaning a second-storey property nearly two years ago.
Colin Jeffrey from Durham Close, Paignton had admitted some health and safety offences but pleaded not guilty to manslaughter by gross negligence.
The police said he's ignored even the most basic safety measures. Detective Inspector Steve Davies said Jeffrey's attitude was 'cavalier'. "The majority of his employees were young men who were vulnerable to the risks of dangerous work by virtue of their youth, inexperience and inability to appreciate risk."
Jeffrey has been sent to prison for five years by a judge at Exeter Crown Court.
