A night shelter for homeless people could be set up in Exeter this winter.
The charity Exeter Community Initiatives, which helps to tackle homelessness, hopes church buildings could be used to accommodate rough sleepers - if volunteers come forward to run the project.
Volunteers are also sought to join the city's Street Outreach Team, who work directly with homeless people.
