51-year-old David Williams left a young boy with serious injuries
A driver who left a 10-year-old boy seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Sidmouth has been found dead, days before he was due to be sentenced.
David Williams, from Exmouth, died at his home last weekend [20 and 21 July].
The case had been adjourned for a psychiatric report, due to a history of mental illness, but Mr Williams was due to appear at Exeter Crown Court today [26 July] after he admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving last month.
The 51-year-old had been driving his car on Sidford Road, Sidmouth, in September when he knocked down the boy, who suffered serious leg injuries.
He failed to stop, but was later traced by police.
