It turned out to be a false alarm
Hundreds of guests at the Courtyard by Marriot at Sandy Park, in Exeter spent around an hour in the car park in the middle of the night due to multiple alarms going off.
The hotel was busy and the sound started from the eighth floor kitchen and bar bistro.
Although all the guests were awakened in the middle of the night, it turned out to be a false alarm.
One guest at the four-star hotel said what they had to do: "We all had to evacuate the hotel, the alarms inside were incredibly loud. Everyone gathered in the car park and thankfully it wasn't raining!
"Some people had very quickly dressed and many were even in their pyjamas. But we were well looked after by the team at the hotel.
"Safety is the priority and their is no quarms from me."
