Loss adjusters are visiting houses in Tiverton after a power surge caused electrical devices to catch fire.
Western Power Distribution say the problems were triggered by a fault with a high voltage cable in the Oakfields area. Fire fighters were called to properties in Carew Road and put out the blazes in the equipment.
At one stage 140 properties had no power, but that number has now dropped to 100. Electrical engineers are checking each house to ensure they're safe before reconnecting them.
