An elderly lady is being treated for a leg injury after yesterday's strong winds blew her over on the beach in Exmouth - and she had to be assisted by the lifeboat.
The woman was swept on to the hard sand by a Force Nine gust and suffered a broken femur, in a hard-to -access location between Exmouth and Sandy Bay.
Because no vehicles could reach her, the inshore lifeboat was used to help get her to hospital.
The boat carried a fold-up stretcher which was used by the crew, a paramedic and passers-by to carry the patient around 600 metres to a waiting ambulance at Orcombe Point
